Covid has made life difficult for all Cubans. For those with little or no sight, the daily challenges are immense. "Reg's Wish" will find ways to help these people. The CNC, Canadian Network on Cuba and Gerardo's CDR, Committees for Defense of the Revolution have partnered to make this happen. This is the second time the two have joined forces. CNC and CDR helped Cubacan ship close to 1,000 baseball bats to the Cuban National Series. You will see our goals are so simple, a white cane and dark glasses that can make such a difference. For every $10 donated we will deliver a white cane and/or dark glasses to a blind person in Cuba. Donating is easy. Go to our Donate section to see how you can help.
Who is Reg?
Reg Greve and his wife Ruth first visited Cuba in 2006, the first of many. Every trip he made a list of things that were needed and he would bring them next time. They also focused on baseball equipment for kids. When they couldn't carry everything they collected, they recruited friends/tourists to help. Over 70 of their equipment bags reached kids in Cuba. Reg passed away in September 2022. One of his last wishes was that their work continue. He asked that any 'In Memoriam' donations be given to our Cubacan projects.
Like so many Canadians who support Cuba, Reg was just an average guy, yet he accomplished so much.
The Result
A year of hard work by a lot of people made Reg's Wish a tremendous success. The blind in Cuba will receive 2,400 white canes. In the picture you will see Reg's sons, Jeremy and Lane, presenting a sample of the canes to the Director of the Blind Association in Cuba.
